Obituary for K. Marie Schober (Schober)
K. Marie Schober was born January 14, 1921 in Woodbury, NJ. She graduated from Swedesboro High School in 1937 and was a member of the first class of King's College graduating in 1942 with a B.A. in Math. She worked in the Instrument Shop at Mobil Oil Refinery during WWII. In 1948, she got her M.S. from Temple University's night school. She taught at Paulsboro and Woodstown High Schools. In 1952, she traveled to Southern Rhodesia to serve as a missionary teacher in a boarding school for two terms until 1964. Upon her return she became a member of the first faculty at the Community College of Philadelphia and taught there for 25 years until her retirement in 1990.
She was always active in the life of the church having accepted Christ as a young girl. She was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Clarksboro and later joined the First Baptist Church in Woodbury. She was superintendent of the Sunday School, chairman of the Missions Committee, sang in the choir and played piano until early 2017.
Marie traveled to all 50 states, went around the world with her friend Helen, and visited her King's friend Dottie six times at her mission station in Ecuador. Leaving home meant she left behind one of her four-footed friends--the first one Schatzie and the last Toby.
Marie cherished her nineteen cousins as if they were her siblings. Once retired, she chose to live by I Corinthians 15:58 "Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord."
Family & Friends may visit from 9:30 am to 11 am on Thursday, November 2nd, at Smith Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Mantua, NJ where funeral services will be held at 11 am on Thursday. Burial will follow at Eglington Cemetery in Clarksboro, NJ. As an expression of sympathy, contributions can be made to First Baptist Church of Woodbury, 544 N. Broad Street, Woodbury, NJ 08096.
