Obituary for Martin T. Sullivan

Martin Thomas Sullivan, 60, of Salem, N.J., proud father of Holli-Joi
of Salem, N.J. and Thomas of Pitman, N.J., passed away suddenly in his
home on April 12, 2016. “Marty” was predeceased by his parents, Paul and
Mildred Ethel Sullivan; and although he was born May 1, 1955 in
Philadelphia, he grew up in Westville, N.J. He was a 1974 graduate of
Deptford High School and Sylvania Technical School and attended
Gloucester County College. He was a master plumber, and a member of
Local 322, NJ Plumbing Inspectors Association (NJPIA). Marty was the owner/operator of MTS Plumbing & Heating, and had many employers over the years. He was licensed by the State of NJ as a master plumber and inspector. He was known for his excellent diagnostic skills along with being gifted in the areas of mechanics and construction.
Survived by his two children, sister Rita Ackley (Bob) of Westville, N.J.,
sister Carole Rothenburger (Robert) of Glassboro, N.J., brother Steven
Sullivan of Brigantine, N.J., brother Michael Sullivan (Donna) of Woodbury,
N.J., sisters-in-law Carole Sullivan of Woodbury, N.J., and Eleanor Sullivan
of Washington Township, N.J. He was predeceased by his parents, brother
Paul Sullivan and brother Walter Sullivan.
Marty was talented at cooking, and he enjoyed betting on the
horses. He experienced trips to Italy, Saratoga, and the Kentucky Derby. He
loved animals, especially his black lab, Sire, and his previously owned race
horse named Bright Hope.
A celebration of Martin’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at St. John’s Episcopal Church Parish Hall, 76 Market Street, Salem, N.J., 08079. Family, friends, neighbors and work associates are invited to visit from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
