Message to the Family: I grew up three houses away from the Reichert's and spent many a day playing basketball in their driveway. Jeff's Mom, Barb, was a surrogate mom to me. And, as the years went by and my Grandfather has passed, Don would reach out to me to let me know how my Grandmother was doing. I am grateful to the Reichert family for their contribution to my life. They were a positive influence that I carried forward in my years. I remember one day when I was playing basketball there and Jeff came out the back side door to yell at someone that was on street and Barb wacked him with the open side a lid for a pan that was larger than a sauce pan. He turned to Barb and looked stunned. Barb said for him to go in, he hung his head and marched in. Little did I know that I was beginning to see the spunk in him that everyone now talks about. He was always quick with a smile or a laugh or both. As the years passed, Jeff and I lost contact with one another until connecting again through social media. Through his posts and those of his wife and friends I had the opportunity to see the man he had become. He served his country and family well. Cecy and Celie, I am so sorry for your loss of your husband and father. I just can't imagine the pain you feel. My prayers are with you both. Judy and Jan, my prayers are with both of you as well. It seems like such a long time ago since the days of our youth.
