Lilyard Nathaniel  Lucas Sr.
Lilyard Nathaniel Lucas Sr. (Lee) age 91, of Pennsville passed away at home on Friday, March 24, 2017. Born in Woodbury, he served in the US Navy during WWII, Korean, and Vietnam Wars. He retired after 25 years of service from the Navy as Boatswain Mate Chief Petty Officer. Lilyard loved farming and had a small fruit and vegetable road stand in his retirement. He also enjoyed hunting and reading Louis L'Amour western novels.

He is survived by his children, Lilyard N. Lucas Jr. & his wife Kathy of Gibbstown, Margaret A. Leahy & her husband Steven of West Deptford, Mary F. Gizzie-Voigt & her husband Winfried of Jena, Germany, Deborah J. Larmer of Woodbury Heights; stepdaughters, Cindy Crush and Tonya Morrisey; grandchildren, Jennifer, Daniel, Shawn, Katie, Jacob; step granddaughters Nicole and Katie; 3 great grandchildren; brothers, Nathaniel (Sonny) Lucas and Harry Lucas, both of Vineland; sisters, Mary McNamara of Oregon and Carol Reynolds of Michigan. Lilyard is predeceased by his wives, Margaret I. (nee Gallagher), and Martha (Kley Minta), and his sister Emma Lucas.

Family & Friends may visit from 8:30 am to 10:30 am on Saturday, April 1st, at Smith Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Mantua, NJ where Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Hurffville, NJ. Donations can be made to Gloucester County 4-H Assoc., Attn: Linda Strieter, 1200 N.
