Obituary for Felicie Squyres (Faber)

Felicie Faber Squyres died in Maplewood, NJ, on August 30 at age 87. She was born in Maplewood as well, the only child of Stuart and Pamela Faber, both teachers, on Dec. 6, 1929. She attended Beard School, where her mother taught, and earned her bachelor's degree in zoology from Wellesley College in Massachusetts. She worked in Boston after graduating and there met Arthur Squyres. They married in 1952 and settled in southern New Jersey, where son Steve and twins Pam and Tim were born. They lived in Wenonah, and Felicie, an avid reader and skilled gardener, tended children and dachshunds, also earning her master's degree at Glassboro State College (now Rowan University.) She was a reference librarian at Glassboro Public Library from 1975 to 1995. Prior to moving to Maplewood two years ago, she maintained a beautiful garden at their home on S. Princeton Ave. Felicie was a lifelong reader, with a lively and wide-ranging interest in the world and how it works. She was smart, funny, practical, open-minded, generous of heart and easy to talk to. She will be missed as a mother and mother-in-law, as a grandmother, and as Arthur’s beloved wife of almost sixty-five years.She is survived by Arthur, her husband; by son Steve, his wife Mary, and daughters Nicky (husband Ben) and Katy; by daughter Pam and her husband Steve; and by son Tim, his wife Tina, and daughters Georgia and Quinn. Friends are invited to visit from 10 am - 11 am on Tuesday, September 5 at Memorial Presbyterian Church, 202 E. Mantua Avenue, Wenonah, NJ. Funeral
service will be held at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Wenonah Cemetery, Wenonah Ave., Mantua, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Felicie’s honor to either the Wellesley Students’ Aid Society (106 Central Street, Schneider Ctr., Wellesley, MA 02481) or Memorial Presbyterian Church (202 E.
