Obituary for Wendy Sue Betz (Watkins)

Wendy Sue  Betz (Watkins)
Wendy Sue Betz age 58, of Glassboro, NJ passed away on Monday, September 4, 2017. Born in Elmer, NJ to William Watkins and Fannie Watkins (nee Howard) she was one of seven children. Wendy went to Clearview Regional High School Class of 1979. Music was her greatest passion. She was the lead vocalist for Wendy Betz and the Riseing which performed various types of music. Wendy was very active in the local music scene, the Philadelphia Area, and all over South Jersey. She enjoyed playing regularly at the Bus Stop Cafe' in Pitman. Wendy was also active in ​community functions ​in the town of Pitman. She ​participated in the ​the seasonal uptown market annual ​fall craft show, and entertaining for charity. Wendy greatly supported and ​implemented many charity drives for the military. Her husband was a Sargent and retiree of the Army Reserves. ​ Wendy was also passionate about people and life. In her spare time she enjoyed making custom handmade jewelry, arranging flowers, and going to the beach. Wendy was very creative, but most of all she loved spending time with family and friends.

Wendy is survived by her husband John C. Betz, III, and his son, John Betz IV, sisters, Gloria Syrigonakis, Deanna Wondo, Janis Watkins-Wagner, Joyce Evans (James), nieces & nephews, Renee' Marino, William and Brian Watkins, Heather and Melissa Wagner, James and Chelsea Evans, Susan Syrigonakis, Joanne Syrigonakis-Schilling, ​Michelle Scherer-Cimino, and Dorthea Karge. She was predeceased by her sister, Marylou Scherer, and her brother, Douglas Watkins.

The family will be hosting a memorial celebration of life to honor Wendy from 6 pm to 10 pm on Friday, September 29th at the Ferrell Fire Hall, 186 Elk Road, Monroeville, NJ 08343. There will be a memorial area to pay respects, to share stories, memories, photos and of coarse music to celebrating Wendy's zest for life. In lieu of flowers, contributions will be gratefully accepted for the family. Memories & condolences can be shared at www.smithfhmantua.com
