Obituary for Pietrina "Tina" Mackin (Macaluso)

Pietrina "Tina" Mackin (Macaluso)
Tina Mackin was born and raised into a large Italian family of characters and good cooks in South Philadelphia. She attended South Philadelphia High School where she excelled in the Business School. She went to work in a Philadelphia law firm as a legal secretary. Tina met her husband Bill when they were 16 years old and have been dating ever since. At the age of 21 they were married and moved to South Jersey where she raised their son Bill and daughter Kristine while Bill started his career with Boeing. Tina carried the load while the kids were in school while Bill often traveled for work and the National Guard.
Tina dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren. She was a proud mother who put her energy and focus into every activity involving her children. Tina was generous with her time and money and good advice. Although she never took the stage herself, she was a driving influence in the success of her daughter and son. Kris, through scholarship pageants and cheerleading for the Philadelphia Eagles all while studying to be a physical therapist at Thomas Jefferson University. And Bill, while he worked very hard to graduate at the top of his class at Widener Law School. Tina was equally proud of the accomplishments of the granddaughters Chandler and Shae.
Once her children were grown, she worked as an Executive Assistant to an entrepreneur until Bill was able to convince her to come work for Boeing Co. She retired as an Executive Assistant in Marketing. She had a love of travel, and together they have enjoyed visiting Italy, most of Europe, and one of her favorites, Hawaii. Over the years they have lived in Mullica Hill, Ocean City, Candlelight Village, and joined Friends Village in 2005. She has taken that same dedication for her children and grandchildren, that same generous giving spirit and shared it with us as a volunteer at Friends Village for over 12 years.
Tina is survived by her loving husband William, daughter Kristine Coniglio & her husband Barry, and granddaughters, Chandler and Shae Coniglio. Predeceased by her son William Mackin.
Family and Friends are invited to visit from 9:30 am to 11:00 am on Saturday, January 13th, 2018 at Smith Funeral Home 47 Main Street Mantua, NJ 08051. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am. Interment at a later date.
