FLORENCE MAY ADAMS HICKMAN recently of Mt Vernon, WA passed away January 19, 2018 at the age of 96. Florence was born in Woodbury NJ, eldest daughter of Ronald E. Adams, Sr and Myrtle Violet Lentz. She married William Andrew Hickman, Sr on October 11, 1941. Florence was a gentle soul and always eager to please; she cared deeply about her family. A Navy wife for 30 years, she was active in many organizations over her life: in Brownies in Oak Harbor WA, Rainbow Girls as Mother Advisor in Coupeville WA (received the Grand Cross of Color for outstanding service), Cub Scouts in Sewell NJ, Rainbow Girls in Pitman NJ, Order of the Eastern Star in Woodbury NJ & in Pitman NJ. She operated a beauty shop in Sewell NJ before moving to FL. She was active in the Mormon Church for many years serving as Primary President, Teacher in Primary and Relief Society, Stake Secretary & Teacher and served in the Stake Library & Geneology Research Center in FL. She moved back to WA state and served in the Seattle Temple with her husband for four years. After her husband died, she returned to NJ for a short time and rejoined Kemble Memorial Methodist Church of her childhood and served on the Mission Board of the Community Ministries, Altar Guild, Rebecca & Deb Circles. She then moved back to WA.

She was preceded in death by two daughters Cheryl Jean an infant and Diana Louise age 12 as well as by her husband Bill in 1991, and two brothers David Adams & Ronald Earl Adams Jr. She is survived by her children Patricia K Blazer of Salem NJ, Cheral J. Canna of Pitman NJ, Donna M DiLullo (& husband J Don) of Boulder City NV, William A Hickman, Jr. (wife Jowana) of Mt Vernon WA, David C Hickman ( wife Karen) of Mt Vernon WA and by her 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was the eldest of 5 siblings and is survived by two sisters, Patricia Danley of Blufton SC, and Dorothy Lerch, as well as many nieces and nephews. After all her children grew up and left home, she also raised five foster children while in FL. She will be sorely missed by those who knew her.

Family and Friends are invited to visit from 1 to 2 pm on Friday, January 26th. Graveside Services will be held at 2:30 pm at Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro, NJ.
