Obituary for Joyce S. Ziemba (Merlino)

Joyce S.  Ziemba (Merlino)
Joyce S. Ziemba, aged 65, passed away peacefully in the early hours of Saturday, March 17th, 2018. Her entire 35-year career was spent teaching elementary school at St. Nicholas of Tolentine school in South Philadelphia. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, shopping, traveling and going to the movies. For over 15 years, she battled and survived colorectal and liver cancer, undergoing multiple treatments and surgeries, never giving up her resolve and fighting spirit. Joyce is survived by her husband Gerald Ziemba, daughters Jennifer Ziemba and Denise Guittar, husband Ronald and grandchildren Julia, Jackson, Maximus and Xander; also by brothers Ronald Merlino and sons Ronald and Brian, and Dennis Merlino and wife Diane and son Joseph.
Visitation services will be held Friday, March 23, 2018 from 9:00 – 10:30 AM with a Mass to follow at: St. Nicholas of Tolentine Catholic Church 910 Watkins Street (between 9th & 10th) Philadelphia, PA 19148. Private interment to follow.
