Condolence: I followed John's blog and enjoyed his photography and prose and I will miss him greatly. I especially enjoyed his photos and writing of his experience in Vietnam. Godspeed John.

Condolence: John had many on-line "pen pals," and am proud and lucky to count myself as one of them. I enjoyed his writings, his photography, his love of family, and our on-line conversations. I will always remember him. May God be with all John's family and friends to comfort them during this time of grieving, and may he let John know how much he is loved and missed.

Condolence: With this note we want all the McDevitt's to know that we share in their sorrow at this time. We met John more recently, but by no means did that limit our capacity to see that he was a partaker in life; for him life was not a spectator sport. He embraced all his roles with intention. He took on his commitments to family, friends and his profession in a manner that made him a 'show up' guy. We know you will miss him and there will be a hole in the fabric of your life that seems so large right now that it appears nothing will fill it. But know this: by the promises of Baptism he IS in the Place of Peace; and from that Place he will be able to intercede on behalf of your prayers, wishes and desires. You will see. That hole will start to be filled with all the things, if you keep your eyes open for them, that will pass you way that will have his signature all over it. Death changes a state of being - but it does not change a relationship. The love he had for all of you truly does and will transcend the grave. So, in his departure, we should say, " until we met again." Strength will come in the months ahead. God bless you all.

Condolence: Although I have only recently met John and his family, I can tell that he was a remarkable man, husband, father and grandfather. I am sorry for your loss. I cannot find the words to express the sadness I feel. The world will be a lesser place without John.
