Obituary for Barbara E. Karp (Glenn)

Barbara E. Karp (nee Glenn) age 73, of Wenonah passed peacefully Monday, March 16, 2020. Barbara was a 1965 graduate of Woodbury High School and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from West Virginia Wesleyan College in 1969.

Barbara spent her entire 32 year teaching career at Gateway Regional High School, where she was known for her wit and sense of humor, along with fellow teacher, Ann Tarpine. She coached basketball, field hockey and girls tennis. Her girls' tennis teams in the 1970's won several Olympic Conference titles. Barbara was inducted into the Gateway Athletic Hall of Fame in 2018,

Barbara spent her time involved in many charitable activities such as being an American Red Cross Volunteer, earning the "Volunteer of the Year" Award in 2001. She also enjoyed knitting baby hats which she donated to Inspira Hospital for newborn babies as well as knitting hats and other headwear that she donated to cancer patients through various organizations. She was a member of the Wenonah Historical Society and enjoyed going to Gateway High School to watch tennis matches during the fall and spring.

Barbara is survived by her mother Barbara R. Glenn, sons Jeffrey Glenn and Michael Karp and his wife, Kelley. Grandchildren Megan Elizabeth Glenn, Ella Rose Karp, and Adelyn Grace Karp. Predeceased by her father Theodore Glenn Jr. and brother Theodore Glenn III.

Services are private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Gateway Regional High School Athletic Hall of Fame, 775 Tanyard Road, Woodbury Heights, NJ 08096.
