Betty N.  Pihs (Cassels)
Betty Neil (Hatton) Pihs, Nee Cassels died Saturday, March 26, 2016, surrounded by her family, after a brief illness. Born in Plant City, FL on July 11, 1925 to Anna Dell and Neil Alexander Cassels. She was predeceased by her parents, her step-father, Harold Randall Sabin, and her two husbands, Edward Hatton and Jacob Andrew Pihs.

She is survived by her children: Betty Bailey (Wayne) of Sewell, Edward Hatton (Cynthia) of Blenheim, Michael Hatton (Jane) of Pilesgrove, William Hatton (Dawnmarie) of Palm City, FL, Joseph Hatton (Maureen) of Gibbstown, Eileen Jackson (David) of Mantua Twp., and Cheryl Hatton of Woodbury, her step-children; Holly Horner (William) of Egg Harbor Twp., and Gregory Pihs (Annette) of TN. Also surviving is her only sister, Anna Louise Sabin of Beaverton, OR.

Betty retired from Acme Markets, she was a home-body who loved nothing more than her family. She was proud of her children, her 21 grandchildren, her 26 great grandchildren, and her 1 great-great grandchild, and her many nieces and nephews.

She was an accomplished seamstress and tailor; she made wedding gowns for each daughter, quilts for her grandchildren and most of her own clothing. Betty was an avid reader, had a dry quick wit and enjoyed cryptograms, crosswords, Sudoku puzzles and most of all visits from her family.

Family and friends may visit from 10 to 11 AM Tuesday, March 29th at Smith Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Mantua where a memorial service will be held at 11 AM.
