In loving memory of our Mother Carolyn Speak McDermott Gardner age 78, born April 14, 1941 who is now a loving angel watching over us. Mother Catherine Speak Farrell, raised by John and Madeline Speak, her Mommom and Pop-pop, Sister Madeline (Midge) Thompson Cartilage of Leesburg FL, preceded by her brother Harry Farrell. Carolyn has six children, Robert McDermott, Bridgeville DE, Joe McDermott (Deb) Morton PA, Carolyn Crawford (Jim) West Deptford NJ, Frank McDermott (preceded by Lisa) Antoinette Kelly Folcroft PA, Pat McDermott Holmes PA, Tom McDermott (Trish) Bear Creek PA; grandchildren, Robert Jr. (Mallory), Shana Riley (Alex), James Crawford (Ashley), Jennifer Crawford, Kailyn, Jacob, Brianna McDermott; great grandchildren, Reilly, Allie Ruiz, Robin McDermott and Connor Crawford; many nephews and three nieces, Cathy Kerr Harper, Madeline Shield, Michelle Farrell; along with many great friends!

Carolyn (Kitty) went to Blessed Virgin Mary School in Darby PA. Lived in Darby most of her younger years. Married Robert McDermott in 1959. In 1982 Carolyn then moved to Lewes Delaware with Edwin Gardner who she married in 1983. They moved to West Deptford NJ in 2001. After Edwin passed, she befriended Ted Parks.

She loved life, collecting Teddy bears, pocketbooks and anything John Wayne! We would always think of her whenever we saw Teddy bears and hear country music!

Family and Friends may visit from 1 to 3 pm on Thursday, October 8th at Smith Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Mantua, NJ 08051 where a memorial service will be held at 3 pm. A reception will follow at the home of Carolyn Crawford in West Deptford.
