Obituary for Catherine M. Cokos

Catherine M. Cokos age 99, of Deptford Township passed away at her home on Sunday, October 16, 2022. Born in Philadelphia to the late John Lellis and Christina (Tsoulas), she lived in Wenonah, Deptford Twp. for 70 years. Catherine had a passion for cooking and with her husband created their own food businesses, they ran a successful restaurant in Philadelphia, Alexander's along with Spartans Catering, which served Deptford Twp. and surrounding areas. She was proud of her Greek Heritage and was a faithful member of the Greek Orthodox Church. She loved her family, dogs, cruises, and traveling abroad, throughout Europe. Catherine enjoyed taking her grandchildren to the movies, broadway shows, and trips to New York City that included seeing the Christmas Tree at Rockefeller Center. She always looked forward to a cup of coffee, sweets, and would never turn down a cheese steak and a glass of wine.

She would often sew and knit various items, but especially loved to make crib sheets, baby blankets, and sweaters for her grandchildren and friends. Catherine was the glue that kept her family together and wove a beautiful tapestry that is evident in the love all have for her. She was a caregiver, consoler, and never forgot to celebrate a birthday or special occasion. Catherine was always a constant source of support for her family.

Wife of the late Thomas Cokos Sr., she is survived by her three children, John T. Cokos, Alexander Cokos, Patricia Cokos, six grandchildren, Angelike Norrie & her husband David, Nicole Sternberg & her husband Matt, Alexis Bell, Samantha Hauss & her husband Dan, Amanda Bell, and Patricia Bell, five great grandchildren, Ella, Phoenix, & Noa Norrie, and Payton & Maverick Hauss. She was predeceased by her son, Thomas C. Cokos Jr., her daughter, Christina Psoinos, and several siblings.

Family & Friends may visit from 12 PM to 1 PM on Tuesday, October 25th, at Smith Funeral Home, 47 Main Street Mantua, NJ where a service will be held at 1 PM. Interment will follow in Eglington Cemetery in Clarksboro, NJ.
