Obituary for Charles W. Copeland Jr.

Charles W. Copeland, Jr. age 68, of Mantua Township, passed away suddenly on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at Inspira Medical Center, Mullica Hill. Chuck grew up in Barnsboro, graduated from Clearview Regional High School in 1972 and then Gloucester County College. He then went on to graduate from Sea Girt and became a Patrolman for the Paulsboro Police Department. Shortly thereafter, he joined the Mantua Township Police Department eventually retiring as a Detective Sergeant.

Chuck was a firearms instructor and opened his own gun shop. He enjoyed darts, was a car enthusiast (loved his 1967 Ford Fairlane) and was an avid deer and turkey hunter. Summers with his family were spent at Lake Hurff in the 80's and 90's. Later in life, he enjoyed motorcycling and classic car shows. He was involved in numerous organizations and always wanted to give back. He devoted much time to helping others in the community, as well as friends and family who were in need. Chuck met tons of wonderful people in various VFW posts and MANY watering holes.

Charles is survived by his wife Carolyn Copeland (nee Landherr). He was the devoted father of daughter Michele Copeland, son Charles W. Copeland, III, stepdaughter Kristine Wilson (William Stott Jr) and the late Wayne Wilson. Also survived by grandson Ryan, brothers Wayne (Mallory) Copeland and Raymond (Mary) Copeland and mother-in-law Carol Vorse Landherr as well as many nieces and nephews.

Family and Friends are invited to visit from 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Friday, May 6, 2022 at Smith Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Mantua, New Jersey 08051. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am with burial to follow at Eglington Cemetery in Clarksboro, NJ 08020.
