Incisive and insightful

I first met Dave when he and his family joined Wenonah Memorial Presbyterian Church.  He impressed me quickly with his general knowledge and insight, as well as a quiet friendliness that was always welcoming and reassuring.  If there were to be one thing I'd have to say I'll miss most, it's his off-the-cuff comments during any given service.  They were delivered with pinpoint timing accuracy and an inimitable dry wit that always produced what Leo Rosten defined as humor: the affectionate communication of insight.

The last conversaion I had with Dave was on Sunday, 14 February 2016.  Seated at the rear of he sanctuary as usual, he was candid about where things stood concerning his health, which struck me as refreshing. I won't forget those few moments. 

It's easy to say he's in a better situation now, and that is indeed the facts of the case.  It is equally true to say he'll be missed as a valued friend.
