Remembering Dave Raup.

Remembering Dave Raup.

With a heavy heart I share with you some very sad news.  Dave Raup passed away Monday evening after a lengthy illness.

Dave started with Checkpoint Systems in 1987 and moved to the Access Control Products Group in 1992. For more than twenty-three years Dave answered your calls and emails, providing both timely and critical information for you and your customers. The majority of our Business Partners never met Dave in person. But many of you who traveled to Runnemede to attend a training course, waited until the first break and said, “where can I find Dave Raup, I want to say hello.”

He was a wealth of knowledge and had an uncanny ability to solve problems. His experience with our legacy products will be difficult to replace. The Sielox family will miss him greatly.

Dave was a resident of Wenonah, NJ and leaves behind his wife Marj, a son Danny and a daughter Pam.

I know you join us in our prayers for his family in these difficult times.

Karen Evans, Sielox LLC

We’re all deeply sadden to hear of Dave’s passing.  We all dealt with Dave for many years and he set the bar high for support specialists.  He was always the guy we asked for by name.  He will be in our memories always and we will remember and miss him whenever we call in.

With warmest regards,

Steve and your friends at Spectrum

I’m sorry to hear that, Karen. Please pass along our condolences. I think I spoke to Dave a few times myself on the phone. In general my team has commented your service department has provided some of the best and most knowledgeable support compared to other vendors.

For lack of better words..... that sucks!

I never met him but felt like I knew him well, for quite some time he seemed like a coworker since I talked to him so often.

Most of my technicians knew him as I did and were saddened to hear this news as well.

Al Pechmann al.pechmann@gmail.com

Very well written. God bless.

Dale Padjen

I will keep Dave in my thoughts and prayers.

When you work with a company like Sielox, it's all about family.

We will miss working with him

Oh my Goodness. Such a wonderful person.  I loved speaking to him.  He had such a personality that I enjoyed and kept me engaged and challenged me professionally.

I actually met him once at Wyeth in Sanford when he was down to do something.  His baritone voice....

He will be sorely missed. God's speed Dave.....

Pettinato, James JPettinato@4mutual.com

Please share our condolences with Dave’s family. A few of the older guys, myself included, remember Dave’s devotion to his job and his technical expertise.

Dave was a tough guy to speak to when calling for tech support if you were new to the system, but his knowledge of Checkpoint’s products was unmatched.

Kurt D. Johnson

Alan Pinger Hi-Tech Security

Thank you for posting this.  I wish I were back east as I would have attended his service.  You are right.  Dave had an uncanny ability of diagnosing problems, and he had saved me on projects many times.  I am sure you will be getting more responses from other dealers.  Please collectively take them to his family and let them know how much he will be missed.  I know that you too will greatly miss him, as his knowledge no doubt lent great depth to the tech support team.  Also, beyond the business end, I’m sure that many at the company feel the pangs of loss at not having him there.  My sympathies go to you as well.

Michael Petric Michael.Petric@cve.com

John McHugh, Senior Service Supervisor, Stanley Security Solutions Australia Pty Ltd

I have just heard the very sad news on Dave Raup, my deepest condolences to you and all his family and friends.  Dave will be sadly missed.

Tony Rinaldi Trinaldi@integratedsystems.org

Please pass on my deepest sympathy to Dave’s family.  Dave was a great guy to those of us who have known him for these many years and have worked with him not only on the phone but in person.  He will be sorely missed.  He arguably was the most knowledgeable about the Sielox products and was the go to guy to resolve issues or get questions answered about product problems.  He will be missed not only as a great resource but also for the nice person he was.  I considered him not only a colleague but a friend.   May he rest in peace.

Please relay my sorrow to his family and tell them that we will keep him and them in our prayers.

Bill Edmonson

I am so sorry. Dave and I go back to the beginning and I had no clue he was ill. Even with talking to him in the last couple of weeks he never let on. There are a lot of sad technicians out there. We feel your loss and that it is truly a great loss. Dave was undoubtedly the best technical support person I have ever worked with. He would always in a controlled quiet voice steer us back to the best possible solution to help resolve our self-inflicted issues. Many times he would even talk to me after hours to check up on my resolutions. Even if I called in and did not leave a message he would call me back, having seen my phone number coming up in the que. It was a great relationship that I am going to miss. My regrets are I never got to me him personally. I know that it will be hard on the rest of your team not having him there for support. He has big shoes that will be hard to fill. Mike is up for the task and it will take time to recover. We at First Alarm wish you all well and our thoughts and prayers are with all of you as well as Dave’s family.

Dale H. Kelly

I am sorry to hear of the loss to Sielox’s family. Dave was a big asset in getting us through installations and service calls as well as giving us advise when we needed it, for many of our employees and customers, he will be dearly remembered and missed.

R. Kyle Branson

I want to please pass along my condolences to everyone there and to Dave Raup’s family.  He was a great asset and a tremendous help to me along the way to have gotten to where I am now.  I felt blessed when he answered the phone to assist me when I did have to call in and get assistance…..I KNEW it was going to get resolved when he answered.

He will be greatly missed for his personality and knowledge.  What a terrible loss.

Tina Lynerd

Oh Karen, this is so sad. Mark & I will both be there tomorrow. Debbie told me he was still working.

Charlie Brown

Dave Raup was the best support person ever.  In a real sense, he was the “voice of Sielox”, the voice at the other end of the line with the answers.  I never met him, but I knew he would likely pick up the phone if I called in after 1700 (or 1800) in NJ, and I’d picture him as the last guy in the building—probably working on something important, but taking the time to answer my call.   More than once he called me a couple of days after I had placed a support call, having gone away and done some research in the meantime, hatching a convoluted work-around for a problem. Sometimes he had to tell me something wasn’t possible, but I knew that if he said it then I could take it to the bank. My techs and I, we’re going to miss him.

Butch Dunn

Thank you very much for this consideration. I will be 60 this August and it seems like all I do anymore is go to funerals. I do hope all is well with you and yours.

Steve Wagner

It is very sad news to see the passing of a good man. Please share my thoughts below with his family.

Every business has its unseen. The people who just make the business work, internally and externally. They are never the face of the company, more importantly, they are the heart of the company; woven into its fabric, the living example of its ethos.

The axiom that 'no one is irreplaceable' doesn't apply to these men and women, because when they leave they are never replaced by a single person. It always takes more than one.

Then and perhaps only then do we really appreciate their contribution. While they may remain unseen throughout their careers, their parting creates a void known to all.

So it is with Dave... a good man whose contribution is known to all.

Deepti Goyal

I am shocked to hear this sad news. I wasn't aware, he was ill.

I learned a lot from him, and will always remember him. My heartfelt condolences to his family, and will pray to god to give them strength in these difficult times. May Dave's soul rest in peace.

Jim Pritchett

Sorry to hear this, I will let everyone know here at Costar. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
