Obituary for Donald H. Mendenhall

Donald “Don” Howard Mendenhall, age 91, of Sewell, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, July 16, 2021. Born March 24, 1930 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He lived in Ocean City, Somerdale and Pitman before moving to Sewell in 1956 with his late wife Doris (nee Williams). In the late 1940s and 1950s, Don served in the U.S. Army and Army National Guard. He worked as a sales representative for Prudential Insurance Company in Cherry Hill, Pitman and Vineland for 30 years before retiring in 1991. After retiring, he worked part time for VPI Reprographics Copy Center in Pennsauken. Don enjoyed the casinos in Atlantic City, as well as camping, boating and water skiing with his family and friends over the years at Lake Lenape and Pleasant Valley Campground in Mays Landing.

Don is survived by his two granddaughters, Cynthia "Cindy" Mendenhall (Mike Meyers) of Milmay and Danielle Mendenhall (Dave Bourke) of Monroe Twp., his great-grandson Chase Bourke, his sister Helen Quinn of Monroe Twp. and several nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by his loving wife Doris of 56 years, his son James, his sister Betty Ashfield and his brother Edward Mendenhall.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Saturday, July 31, 2021 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Smith Funeral Home, 47 Main Street in Mantua. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Bethel Cemetery in Sewell. Memories and condolences can be shared at www.smithfhmantua.com
