Obituary for Edith T. "Edie" Hey (Toomey)

Edith T. Hey, age 94, died on February 20, 2021 in Brevard, NC where she lived with her daughter and son-in-law. She was born May 21, 1926 in Wenonah, NJ, the fourth daughter of Leon and Marion Lutton Toomey. She graduated from Woodbury High School in 1945 and began her career at Penn Mutual Insurance Company in Philadelphia, PA. Through a friend, she met her future husband, Kenneth E. Hey and they were married on June 4, 1948. Together, they had three children, raising them in Sewell, NJ. Edie returned to work at the Gloucester County Sheriff's Office, where she worked for 25 years. She also worked at the Board of Elections for 40 years. Edie was a lifelong member of the Memorial Presbyterian Church of Wenonah.

Edie is predeceased by her parents, her sisters Marion, Dorothy and Frances and their husbands and her grandson, Jon Iaquinto. She is survived by her children Carol Ann Hey of Lahaska, PA, Kenne and Arlene Hey of Moorestown, NJ, and Sharon and Joe Gublo of Brevard, NC; grandchildren Jeremy (Sheila Kent) Iaquinto, of Queensbury, NY, Alison Hey of Cinnaminson, NJ, Jesse (Cara Mastrianni) Iaquinto of Asheville, NC, Chloe Hey-Felperin (Kris) Kane of Trumbauersville, PA, Evan (Faye Chou) Hey of New York, NY, and Aaron Iaquinto of Asheville, NC; great-grandchildren Miles Kane, Rose Iaquinto and Hazel Kane; several nieces and nephews and many dear friends. Edie enjoyed doing ceramics, reading, traveling and spending time with her family. She will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, her unconditional love and her generous spirit.

Family and Friends are invited to visit from 1 pm to 2 pm on Monday, March 1st, at Smith Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Mantua, NJ 08051, where a Funeral Service will be held at Memorial Presbyterian Church of Wenonah, 202 E. Mantua Avenue, Wenonah, NJ at 2 pm. Interment will be private. Contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Memories and condolences can be shared at www.smithfhmantua.com
