Obituary for Edward R. "Butch" Jones

Edward R. Jones "Butch", age 79 of Mantua Twp. passed away on Wednesday, June 16, 2021. Born September 14, 1941, to the late Edward "Bud" Jones and Thressa "Terri" (Smith). Butch was a US Navy Veteran and member of Lawson-Cox VFW Post 7649 in Mantua and American Legion Post 133 of Woodbury. He also served as 7679's personal Santa Claus for 20 years. Butch was a retired Ironworker, for Local 401 in Philadelphia. Butch was One of the top erection foremen for Cornell Inc. in Woodbury, especially since they only had nine foremen working.

He is survived by his son, Edward Jones, Jr. and daughter, Sandra Marie McCary, Butch is also survived by his best friend and companion Arabelle Manel and her two daughters Karen Hill-Haines (Charles) and Carolyn (Hill) Olsen (Art) for 45 years. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jeannette McDaniel (Greg), Brian Russell (Jamie), Arthur Olsen III, Andrew Olsen, Sadie Jones and Tyler Jones, great grandchildren, Trevor Russell, Blair Russell and Dori McLeod, brother, Don Jones (Agnes), sisters, Ginny Strang (Dick) and Carol Hogan, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his nephew, Richard Strang. All made his Golden years a little easier and more comfortable.

Family and Friends are invited to visit from 6 pm to 8 pm on Tuesday, June 22nd and from 10 am to 11 am on Wednesday, June 23rd at Smith Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Mantua, NJ. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro, NJ.
