Obituary for Edward S. Prickett

Edward S. Prickett
Edward Smith Prickett, 80, died on December 27th, 2015. He was born on May 15 1935, in Sewell, NJ to Elizabeth and Edward Prickett. Ed spent his high school years working along side of his father at Prickett’s Nursery (established in 1876). Ed went on to graduate from Rutgers University in 1957 with a graduate degree in ornamental horticulture. Upon graduation, he returned home to carry on the family business. Ed could be found each day, out in his sales lot, watering and displaying plants, and conversing with customers… he often said he loved being out there so much, that he would continue until the day he died… which he almost did.

Ed is predeceased by his loving wife, Mary, and his son Brian. He is survived by his daughter, Margo Whitley, her husband, Will, his two granddaughters Madison and Meredith. He is also survived by his brother, Mike Prickett of Sewell NJ, as well as many nieces and nephews and countless friends, all of whom loved he loved dearly and who loved him in return. Ed had a love for life and enjoyed it fully. He will be remembered for his humor and dry wit, love of plants, prowess at the table tennis table and passion for the Flyers. Most of all Ed will be remembered for his generous generous heart, which he shared freely with those he loved.

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM Thursday, December 31st, at Smith Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Mantua, NJ. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Hurffville, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Sacred Heart Church, 1739 Ferry Avenue, Camden NJ 08104. Memories & condolences can be shared at www.smithfhmantua.com
