Obituary for Edward J Redmond

Edward J. Redmond age 93, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2020 at NJ Veterans Memorial Home in Vineland. He was born in Mantua to the late James E. Redmond and Edna (nee Brown). Ed attended Glassboro High School where he was an all-star football player and later played semi pro football for the Clayton ACs . He joined the US Navy during WWII and was a member of the Armed Guard which provided defense to merchant ships in convoy or merchant ships traveling alone. Ed retired from Owens-Illinois Inc. where he was a Production Manager. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and bowling, but most of all he loved his family and adored his grandchildren.

Husband of the late Grace (nee Hughes), he is survived by his daughter, Joy Thompson & her husband Gary of Savannah, GA, two grandchildren, Jim Redmond & his wife Dana, and Lindsay Royal & her husband Alex, three great grandchildren, Deja, Bentley & KatLyn, his great great granddaughter, Paisley and his daughter-in-law, Sarah Redmond. Ed was predeceased by his son, James Redmond, and siblings, Richard Tucker, James Redmond & Jean Wojcik.

Family and Friends may visit from 10 am to 11 am on Wednesday, March 11th, at Smith Funeral Home, 47 Main Street Mantua, where a funeral service will be held at 11 am. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Hurffville, NJ. As an expression of sympathy, contributions can be made to Ranch Hope, Inc., 45 Sawmill Road, P.O.
