Obituary for Edward P. White

Edward P. White age 95, of Pitman, passed away Sunday, June 13, 2021. Born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Thomas and Anna (nee McCormmick). Edward was a Army WWII Veteran. He was retired after 35 years, from RCA as the manager of commercial services. Edward enjoyed Square and Round Dancing, walking, sight seeing and watching airplanes from his backyard swing.

Ed served in WWII as a high-speed radio operator, working on a Naval ship carrying Higgins Landing craft to Japan. After the war, he served with the US Troops directing Japanese soldiers in cleaning up Okinawa from the bombing. In the early 60’s, he went to Greenland for a year with RCA, while controlling the BMEWS plan which involved spying on Russia.

Upon retiring in 1988, he and his wife traveled the country twice, trying to cover every state, finally settling down in Pitman, NJ to learn square and round dancing, eventually forming the Busy Bees Square and round dance club in 1994 which is still in business today, currently in Brooklawn, NJ. They both retired from dancing together in 2015.

Edward is survived by his loving wife, Lois (nee Schoepske), children, Rosemary White, Joanne White and Donald DeHart, 4 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, sister, Nancy Lewis and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, John and brothers, Thomas, Joseph, Eugene, Jerry and John Bernard.

Family and Friends are invited to visit from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Friday, June 18, 2021 at Smith Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Mantua, NJ 08051. Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 pm.
