Evalee Gray Gibson, age 87 of Mantua, passed away on January 23, 2013. Born in Perquimans County, NC she worked as a waitress at several restaurants in NC. She enjoyed playing cards, Yahtzee, pool, taking her dog Lulu to the park, cooking and spending time in the kitchen with her daughters. Evalee wrote short stories and poems that were published. In her later years she talked about the good old days and prayed for good things for her family. Evalee was married to the late Raynor Paul Miller for 19 years and remarried the late Argus Gibson of Kansas.

She is survived by her children, Thelma Lee Wenner, John Paul Miller, James Franklin Miller & wife April, Linda Sue Belanger & husband Paul, Peggy Louise Cromer & husband, Baxter, Crystal IIexie Harris & husband Mitchell, David Weldon Casey, 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Evalee also has numerous extended family members in NC. She also was preceded in death by siblings, Johnny, Lewis, Woodrow, Ilexie, & Thelma Gray and Katie Phelps all of NC, and grandson Stephen Lawrence Miller.

Funeral services are private. Interment will be in the family cemetery in Elizabeth City, NC. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Evalee's name may be made to the American Heart Association. Memories and condolences may be shared at www.smithfhmantua.com
