Obituary for George V. "Mr. Catapult" DiBiase

George V. DiBiase age 87, of Mantua passed away Monday, November 23, 2020 with his family by his side. Born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Nicholas and Assunta DiBiase, he retired from the Naval Air Engineering Center, Lakehurst, NJ after 54 years of service. George was The Chief Engineer and a Senior Executive Service (SES). He was a member of American Society Mechanical Engineers (ASME Fellow). As Chief Engineer, he developed the low-pressure catapult and resting gear which is still operational today. George is known as "Mr. Catapult”. During his tenure, he received the Department of Navy Distinguished Civilian Service Award and the Meritorious Award from the French Government. George enjoyed bocce ball on the beach, painting, woodworking/building, and inventing.

Husband of Josephine "Pina" DiBiase (Postorivo), also survived by his children, Susan DiBiase Lutz (Richard), Lisa Ferrante (Emilio), Nicholas DiBiase (Lisa), Donald Cavallaro (Nicole), and Mark Cavallaro (Tiffany); 11 grandchildren: Emilio Ferrante Jr., Danielle Ferrante, Lia Patterson (Jesse), Marissa Lerch (Steve), Chandler DiBiase Lutz, Julia DiBiase, George DiBiase, Amber Cavallaro, Maya Cavallaro, Italia Cavallaro, Adam Cavallaro; and sister, Antoinette Giannini. He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph DiBiase; and sisters, Margaret Foti, Angie Cantarella; and twin sister, Loretta Vallone.

Family and Friends are invited to Military Honors and Graveside service to be held at 12:00 pm on Friday, November 27, 2020 at Gloucester County Veterans Cemetery, 240 N.
