Obituary for George Edward Markovich

George Edward Markovich age 92, of Williamstown, NJ passed away on Monday, May 29, 2023.  He was born in Minersville, PA to the late Edward Markovich and Sophie (nee Gostovich).  George retired from Reading-Conrail Railroad where he was a machinist.  He was a master carpenter, creating his own business, G.E.M. Fabricators, and had his own pool hall, the Cue Club.  In his younger years, he enjoyed driving his Corvette, riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle, and enjoyed fishing, boating, snowmobiling, and jet skiing. George enjoyed gathering at O’Henry’s bar with friends and family. Along with a big heart, George had a great sense of humor and played jokes on family and friends, telling them he had to go “skydiving”. Having the best rendition of “Happy Birthday”, George created a fun and deafening family tradition. He also loved playing cards, especially 500 Rummy with his grandchildren. Do you know what happens to the Jacks and Queens when you shuffle the cards too much? George knew! He also enjoyed casinos and his lottery tickets. His favorite song was Red Solo Cup by Toby Keith. George relished trips to ShopRite in Glassboro. He visited every department and loved talking to all his friends. George always had everyone laughing and smiling which we will always hold in our hearts.

George is survived by his children, Anita Morrison & her husband Don, Lynn Drozdowski, George E. Markovich Jr., Debbie O’Neil & her husband Donald, Frank Markovich, Donna Gretkowski & her husband Robert, and Diana Crompton & her husband John, their mother, Madaline Markovich (nee Rooney), 16 grandchildren: Stephanie (Patrick), Stacie, Donnie (Becky), Tommy (Jill), Lori, Timmy (Nichole), Frank (Michelle), Kristen (Shaun), Karissa, Tara, Zach, Derek, Trevor, Alanna, Cassandra, Caitlyn, 15 great-grandchildren, and his sister, Delores “Mitzi” Pedrick.  He was predeceased by his brother, James Markovich, his sister, Mary “Babe” Duff, his brother-in-law, Frank Pedrick, and his uncle, Vlade “Unc” Gostovich.
