Obituary for Helen Gambogi (Arbeiter)

Regina Helen Gambogi (“Helen” nee Arbeiter) of Mantua, passed away on February 11, 2023, at the age of 94. Helen was married to Theodore A. Gambogi, Jr. for 62 ½ years before his passing in 2010. She is survived by her three children Ted, Mike, & Peggy, seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Born at home on the Arbeiter Farm in “Jefferson” Mullica Hill, NJ. She was a 1947 honor graduate of Camden Catholic High School. At an early age, Helen studied music and at 11 years of age, she began her soon-to-be-long-lived service to her church by playing the piano when the church was in the Mantua Fire Hall. Her faith and love for her church continued over a span of 82 years as the organist for Church of the Incarnation and Infant Jesus Parish.

Helen was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She volunteered many hours of her time teaching CCD and working at church bazaars. Helen was also a Eucharistic minister who brought the Eucharist to parishioners at hospitals and at their homes.

In 1972, Helen was employed as a bank teller for the Mantua Bank later transferring to Farmers Bank in Mullica Hill until her retirement at age 73. She traveled completely around the world twice visiting such places as Malaysia, Singapore, and Rome. Christmas was a special time for Helen when she made her annual trip to the Philadelphia Ballet’s performance of the Nutcracker. Helen had a great love for her flowers on her front porch where she spent many hours during the summertime. Last, but not least, Helen will always be remembered for her baking and delivering her famous “peach pies” to her family and friends who waited anxiously for them every summer.

Helen was a kind, loving and beautiful soul who will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
