Obituary for Ida N. Saul

Ida Marie (Nicholson) Saul, of Lewes, Delaware (formerly of Sewell, NJ), passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, March 10, 2018, surrounded by her family. Ida was born in Sewell, NJ on March 24, 1929 to the late Ernest and Mary (Tozour) Nicholson. She was also preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-
law, Virginia and Sidney Howarth, and her brother and sister-in-law, Garth and Bea Nicholson, her daughter, Sandra Lee Saul, and her husband, Kenneth Saul. Ida was a determined, head-strong woman who always needed to be sure everyone was okay and went to every length to help someone. After losing her daughter to kidney disease in 1954 they found Ida also suffered from the same disease and she lost one of her kidneys shortly after. Ida lived a difficult life battling many illnesses, but always kept going in both work and with her family. She retired from three jobs during her life – Tall Pines Inn of Sewell where she started as a waitress and evolved to Hostess, leaving when it was sold and became the Eagles Nest. Ida then became Human Resource Manager at Struthers Dunn in Pitman, NJ and stayed until they closed permanently, Ida then took a job at Macy’s in Deptford and worked there until 2005 when she was hit by a vehicle walking across the street. Even spending time in the trauma unit, hospital and two rehabs, Ida survived. She moved to Delaware to live with her daughter in 2009 and enjoyed every minute surrounded by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ida enjoyed traveling and had taken trips to Europe, Hawaii, Bermuda and had been in most every state in US. She had many friends and enjoyed telling stories of the times they shared... mostly tales of Tall Pines Inn and the good friends she made there. Her greatest joy was her family, being part of their lives and spending all her time doing things for them and making them happy. She was a very generous and caring person to all who knew her. Ida is survived by her daughter and husband, Christine and Jim Woolbert, her granddaughter and husband, Jill Burger and Michael Burger, her grandson, Mark Avis, her great grandchildren, Tyler and Zachary Burger, and her sister and brother in law, Doris and James Gage.
