Obituary for Isolina Feliciano-Gonnion

Isolina E. Feliciano-Gonnion passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Inspira Medical Center in Mullica Hill, NJ on the morning of June 22, 2023. She was known to many as “Solina,” and was born in Paterson, NJ on January 18, 1977, to Abraham Feliciano, Jr., and Miriam Feliciano-Reyes.  Solina graduated from Fair Lawn High School in 1995 before attending Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ.  It was in the main library at Rowan University that Isolina met the love of her life, now Detective Sergeant Joseph Gonnion of the Voorhees Police Department.  On September 4, 2005, they were married at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Paterson, NJ.  The couple remained in South Jersey where they would begin their family.  Their first daughter, Isabella Ava was born in 2008, followed by Aureanna Grace in 2012, and finally Sabrina Rose in October of 2015.

A health and fitness enthusiast for most of her life, Isolina aspired to become a personal trainer early on before becoming a licensed esthetician.  Nonetheless, her passion for fitness only grew with the passing of time.  An avid runner since her high school days, Isolina regularly ran marathons and half-marathons in Philadelphia, Chicago, and other U.S. cities, including one race she ran while seven months pregnant with her second child, Aureanna.

Above all, Isolina cherished being a loving wife and mother, and a friendly face to everyone she met.  She strove to live each day by the Maya Angelou quote, “Be a rainbow in somebody else’s cloud.”  And a beautiful ray of light she was to so many!

Isolina was predeceased by her father, Abraham Feliciano, Jr.  She is survived by her devoted husband, Joe, her three precious daughters, Isabella, Aureanna, and Sabrina, the loyal family dog, Fredo, and a loving, devoted extended family that will cherish her forever.

The family is extremely grateful for all the tremendous support, generosity, kindness, compassion, and affection shown to Isolina over the course of her three-year battle with lung cancer.

Relatives & Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at 11 am on Thursday June 29th at Infant Jesus Parish at St. Margaret’s Church, 3rd & Beech Streets, Woodbury Heights, NJ.  The church will be open to visitors beginning at 10:30 am.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Hospital at https://www.stjude.org or YoCuz Foundation https://www.yocuz.org
