Obituary for James Rodney "Jim" Morgan

James “Jim” Rodney Morgan, 72, of Kingwood, TX was born on June 24, 1946 in Woodbury, NJ to parents Robert Clarkson Morgan (“Bob”) and Margaret Alma Morgan, née Hickman (“Peg”) and passed away on Friday, August 10, 2018. Jim was the oldest of three children. He graduated from Clearview Regional High School in Mullica Hill, NJ in 1964 and later received his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology from Wilmington College, DE in 1967. After earning his degree, Jim began his career as a lab technician at the DuPont Company, Wilmington, DE; working there for 35 years and retiring in 2002 as a senior manager. After retirement, Jim continued his long association with DuPont as a safety consultant.
On November 25, 1967 Jim married his school sweetheart Kathleen Stetler (“Kay”) in Woodbury, NJ. Jim proudly served in the New Jersey Army National Guard from 1967 to 1980, and on ready reserve until 1987, attaining the rank of First Sergeant, having been Honor Graduate of his NCO course.
Jim and his family lived in many places over his career including Wilmington, DE; Corpus Christi, TX; Marietta, GA; and Kingwood, TX, where Jim finally retired. His passions were reading, golf, and painting.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Kay of Kingwood, TX; his younger son James Jr. (“Jamie”) of Yonkers, NY; his younger sister, Marge Dipper of Sewell, NJ; and younger brother, David Morgan of Swedesboro, NJ. He is preceded in death by his older son, J. Graham Morgan of Kingwood, TX; and his parents Bob and Peg.
Family and Friends are invited to visit from 9:30 am to 11:00 am on Saturday, August 18th, 2018 at Smith Funeral Home 47 Main Street Mantua, NJ 08051. Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am. Following the service Jim will be laid to rest in Wenonah Cemetery.
