Obituary for Jason V. Roux

Jay passed peacefully on November 6, 2020 after a valiant and hard fought battle against lung cancer. Born and raised in Massachusetts, Jay was a graduate of Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School in the Class of 1994. After high school, Jay joined the United States Coast Guard. His most memorable time in the service was spent aboard the Polar Sea ice breaker which took him to countries and places many of us have never heard of or dreamed of seeing. Eventually, Jay was stationed in Hawaii, which became his home for many years. He met his wife in Honolulu, where they fell in love over burgers at the Kahala mall and fishing in Maunalua Bay. Although he loved the islands, he returned with Lauren to New Jersey where he joined the Local 322 and worked for Herman Goldner Co. Jay was a dedicated and hardworking guy who loved to fish, golf, and be outdoors. He was an easy going, gentle, and loving soul, and above all else, he was a family man. Jay spent his best times with his sons and was teaching them to be avid fisherman and golfers at the tender age of three. He will be sorely missed by all but lives forever in our hearts.

Jay is survived by his wife, Lauren, their twin boys, Ashton and Pierce, as well as his father, Dennis Roux, mother, Martha Smith, sisters, Sandra Roux Leigh and Mindy Souleotis, and niece, Victoria Beutler.
