Obituary for Jessie Olin Shelmire

Jessie Olin Shelmire age 79, of Mullica Hill passed away Saturday, November 14, 2020 at home. Born on December 17, 1940 to Howard and Rebecca (nee Stiles) Shelmire at their home in Mullica Hill.

Olin was a 1959 graduate of Glassboro High School. He was an avid Nascar fan (Chase Elliot). Over the years he enjoyed snowmobiling, waterskiing, bowling, hunting, traveling, and visiting his family in Wellsboro, PA. He and his sister Marion were close. Olin held many community leadership positions, including: Township Treasurer, Harrison Twp. School Board member, President of the CB Radio Emergency Alert Team, Little League umpire, Boy Scouts of America Pack Master, Farmers National Bank Board Director, Old Home Day director and Santa Claus. Olin was a fruit farmer and owned Shelmire Oil Service. In his later years, he worked for Smith Funeral Home and Pitman Napa. He and his wife Elaine had been to every state in the USA as well as Canada. He currently attended Trinity UMC.

He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Shelmire; his grandchildren, Bonnie Shelmire, Brian Moxley and Cheyenne (Brian) Pearce; great granddaughters, Alyssa and Dakota Moxley and Serenity and Ava Pearce; sister, Marion Coleman; nieces, Rebecca Smith (Jerry) and Elizabeth Hussla (Billy); great nieces, Joycelyn Smith (Will) and Jordynne Smith; great great nephew, Will; and numerous cousins, especially his Wellsboro, PA cousins. He is preceded in death by his wife Elaine (nee Buck); son, Jeffrey Olin Shelmire; parents; brother-in-law, William Coleman; aunt and uncle Edgar and Catherine Shelmire; and many cousins.
