John J Briggs age 74 of Sewell, NJ passed away peacefully on Saturday October 3rd, 2020 with his family by his side. Born in Philadelphia to the late John Briggs and Jean Gaughan, he served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. He retired from United Airlines after working for 38 years and more recently worked at AAA of North America for 5 years. In his spare time, John enjoyed music, golfing, reading, listening to Coast to Coast and was an avid sports fan. Most of all he loved his family and adored his grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Sharon (Gray) Briggs, his son Brian Briggs and his wife Erin Briggs of Mantua Township., daughter Janine Farr and her husband Michael Farr of Washington Twp., devoted grandfather of Megan, Emily, Jordan, Jacob and Pete. He is survived by his brother Thomas and wife Jackie of Alabama, Robert and wife Suzanne of Delaware, sister Suzanne of West Deptford and brother James Briggs of West Deptford. John was predeceased by his sister Rosemary Brizuela of West Deptford.

Family and Friends may visit from 9 am to 10:30 am on Friday, October 9th, at Smith Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Mantua, NJ. A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Friday at Church of The Incarnation, 240 Main Street Mantua, NJ. Burial and Military Honors will follow at Gloucester County Veterans Cemetery in Monroe Township, NJ 08094.
