Obituary for John J. "Hoot" Gibson Jr.
John J. Gibson Jr. "Hoot" age 75, of Mantua passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at home. Born in Philadelphia to John J. Gibson Sr. and Emma (Schaffer) he worked for Acme as a truck driver. In his younger days, John enjoyed playing golf. He loved spending time watching John Wayne movies, boating, fishing, and trips to Max's in Gloucester for their mussels.
John is survived by his wife, Judy (Hayes), children, Donna, John III, and Michael, daughter-in-law Kim, grandchildren Shawn (Lindsay), Eric Jr. (Erin), Taylor, Tyler, Bailey, Casey and Zarah, great grandchildren, Faith and Shawn Jr., sisters, Janet Bradley, Patricia Cannon, Catherine Melittello, Loretta Mondrick and Mary Ellen Shoop, and brother, Charles Gibson. John was predeceased by his son Eric.
Family and Friends may visit from 9 am to 11:30 am on Wednesday, February 28th, at Smith Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Mantua where a funeral service will begin at 11:30 am. Interment will be held at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, contributions can be made to Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Rd., Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256
