Obituary for John Harold Maurer

John Harold Maurer age 63, of "Oak Valley" Deptford Twp., passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at home peacefully surrounded by his family. Born in Philadelphia, he was raised in Oak Valley and graduated from Deptford High School Class of 1977. John served in the US Navy from 1978 to 1982 where he was a member of the Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Fifteen (HS-15). He retired from Union 669 where he was a Sprinkler Fitter and in his spare time he enjoyed golfing, fishing, and was an avid Philadelphia Sports Fan. Most of all John loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Terri (nee Shockley), his son, John Maurer & his wife Natalie of Hillsborough, NJ, his daughter, Erica Cuzzilla of Oak Valley, four grandchildren, Dominick Cuzzilla, and Anna, John, & Eliana Maurer, his mother, Libby Maurer of Oak Valley, two brothers, Michael Maurer & his wife Barbara Woolwich Twp., and Alfred Maurer & his wife Lynn of Mantua, his sister-in-law, Debbie Maurer, his mother-in-law, Betty Shockley, two brothers-in-law, Sammy Shockley & his wife Darlene and Jimmie Shockley, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, & friends. John was also survived by his two dogs, Daisy & Maximus. He was predeceased by his father, John Lang Maurer, his sister, Tracey Maurer, and his brother, William Maurer.

Family & Friends may visit from 11 am to 12:30 pm on Saturday, December 17th, at Smith Funeral Home, 47 Main Street Mantua, where Military Honors and a Memorial Service will be held at 12:30 pm.
