Jose (Joe) Augusto Jr. age 94, of Sewell passed away on Friday, March 23, 2018. Born in Pescanseco Portugal, he arrived in the United States. At the age of 14 settling in West Virginia until the age of 18 when he joined the US Navy and participated for three years in World War II. After which he began a 40 year career at the Mobil Oil Refinery in Paulsboro starting in the Package Prep area and working his way up to an Electrical Supervisor in the Maintenance Department. Joe retired at the age of 60 and enjoyed spending time with family and many friends that he made over the years, volunteering at St. John's Church in Paulsboro and wintering in Florida.
Husband of Dolores (Nunes) Augusto, also survived by his children (or his 4 "chickens" as Joe fondly referred to them) - Sandy Augusto, Bob Augusto (Claire), Sue Kramer & Jim Augusto (Jon Cramer), his grandchildren - Bobby Augusto, Chloe' Joniec, Tim Geary. Pre-deceased by his sister Mary Martins, brother-in-law Tony Martins, grandchild Amber Geary, and son-in-law Joe Kramer.
Family and Friends are invited to visit from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, April 2nd, 2018 and from 9:00 am to 10:00 am Tuesday, April 3rd, 2018 at Smith Funeral Home 47 Main Street Mantua, NJ 08051. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday at Church Of The Incarnation 240 Main Street Mantua, NJ. Burial with military honors to follow at Eglington Cemetery in Clarksboro, NJ 08020.
