Obituary for Joseph S. Casella Sr.
Joseph S. Casella, Sr. of Mantua passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, June 14, 2021. Son of the late Samuel and Margaret Casella.
He loved and adored his wife Ruth, whom he shared 59 years of marriage. His greatest joy was being surrounded by his family and his grandchildren, along with the many rescue cats that shared his home over the years.
A self-made man, Joe always instilled to his children the meaning of family and the philosophy of sticking together through life’s journeys. He lived by the quote, “You are family, and family always sticks together” Joe loved his Lord Jesus, praising him till the day he passed into paradise.
Always supportive to his children and grandchildren, Joe was there to acknowledge and praise their many activities and achievements. An accomplished woodworker, Joe made many beautiful furniture creations from broken antiques he acquired from attending local auctions over the years. He also enjoyed NASCAR racing, especially truck racing.
He is survived by the love of his life, Ruth. Loving father to Lisa Iocona (Louis), Joseph Casella Jr. and Denise Casella. Loving grandfather of Nichole Camp (Matthew) and Anthony Iocona (Lisa, his fiancée) and a great grandchild of Nichole and Matthew who are expecting in August. Also survived by sister-in-law Gladys Watson of Waynesville, N.C. Many nieces and nephews and his three cats, that always gave him comfort and smiles throughout his day.
Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Homeward Bound Animal Pet Adoption Center, 125 County House Road, Blackwood, NJ 08012.
