Joseph Bernard  McDonnell
Joseph B. McDonnell age 82, of Mantua passed quietly in his sleep on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Camden, he was a son of Frank McDonnell & Frances (nee Wietrick). He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. Joe was a member of Church of the Incarnation, and was a purser of the 4th degree Knights of Columbus. Joe taught at Gloucester Catholic High School and was an Office Engineer until retirement.

Husband of Antoinette McDonnell (nee Adams) "Ginger", he is survived by his children, Cindy Leeds, Ray Simons (Natalie), and Gary Simons, his grandchildren, Robert Leeds, Michelle (Eric) Geddes, Ryan (Mercedes) Simons, Michael (Virginia) Simons, great grandchildren, Zachary, Addison, Abigail, and Bianca, his niece, Patricia (Tom) Giallanza, and his nephew, Robert Manelski. Joe was predeceased by his brothers, Thomas (Doris) & Francis (Clemencia), his sister, Ann (Gene) Manelski, and his grandson Dustin Simons

Family & friends may visit from 6 to 9 PM Wednesday, December 30th, at Smith Funeral Home, 47 Main Street Mantua, and from 9:30 to 10:15 AM on Thursday December 31st, at Church Of The Incarnation, 240 Main Street Mantua, where Mass will be held at 10:30 AM. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Gloucester County Veterans Cemetery in Monroe Township, NJ. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Church of the Incarnation, 240 Main Street, Mantua, NJ 08051 and/or Holy Redeemer Hospice,150 E.9th Avenue, Runnemede, NJ 08078.
