I am deeply saddened by the passing of my dear friend. Joyce and I were childhood buddies in National Park. She taught me to love adventure, how to identify and chew on sassafras roots and to dig for tadpoles in the mud flats at the creek near the old White Bridge. I will forever treasure our times together both past and in more recent years and the many gifts she made for me, including, a tissue holder shaped like a teapot, fancy inspirational bed pillows and a wall hanging in honor of friendship. I will miss her sense of humor, quaint sayings and especially her hearty laugh. Joyce was proud of, blessed with and grateful for wonderful children and grandchildren, who cared for and loved her consistently clear to the end of her life. What more could anyone ask for? Thank you, dear Lord, for giving us the precious gift of Joyce. Amen.
