Laurie K. Peterson, age 67, of Montgomery, TX (formerly of Mantua, NJ) passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2024.  She was born in Woodbury, NJ to the late Walter Schwoebel and Evelen Schwoebel (nee Van Fleet) and grew up in Mantua.  Laurie graduated from Clearview Regional High School class of 1974, where she was an honor roll student and captain of the Tennis Team.  Laurie earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Glassboro State College in 1978.  She started her career at Mobil Oil Corporation working at the Paulsboro, NJ Refinery.  Laurie retired from ExxonMobil in 2011 as a Global Advisor in the Controllers organization.  In her spare time, she enjoyed playing tennis, watching her son (Brett) play sports, going to the beach and spending time with family and friends.  Her favorite thing was having her granddaughter (Bailey) over to Grandma and Poppy’s house for sleepovers. 

Laurie is survived by her husband of 43 years, Larry Peterson; son, Brett Peterson and his wife, Nicki Peterson; granddaughter, Bailey Peterson; brother, Eric Schwoebel; sisters, Jill Worrell and Sue Kelly; nieces, Brie Kelly, Kate Peterson, Jennifer Peterson & Beth Schmidt; and nephews, Eric Carlson, Brian Carlson, Scott Kelly, Jared Peterson and Jacob Schmidt. 

Relatives and friends may visit from 9:30 am to 11 am on Thursday, March 14^th at Smith Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Mantua, NJ where a funeral service will be held at 11 am.  Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park, 500 Delsea Drive, Sewell, NJ.  As an expression of sympathy contributions can be made to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance at www.ocrahope.org or AccentCare Hospice at www.seasonsfoundation.org.  Memories and condolences can be shared at www.smithfhmantua.com.
