Obituary for Lisa C. Lucchesi

Lisa Claire Lucchesi passed away peacefully with friends and family by her side on Thursday, March 9; she was 56 years old. Lisa was born in Jackson Heights, Queens on February 28, 1967 to the late Arsete Lucchesi and Agnes Ann Lucchesi (née Caminiti). Early in the summer of 1974, Lisa moved to North Plainfield, NJ with her family. Lisa loved the beach, the sun, and the ocean. Lisa could swim for hours on end, a true Pisces. She loved kayaking, paddle boarding and snorkeling. She loved animals, nature, and the God that created it all. Lisa loved decorating her home, ensuring her homes landscaping was on point and had a knack for interior design and curb appeal. These hobbies made her happy.

Lisa was a little bit of everything. She had an inexplicable love for Justin Trudeau. No one knows why for sure, but she just did. Lisa loved geodes; subsequently, following a long family vacation out west in the summer of 1979, she got her first one and has been hooked ever since. Though she didn’t like to swear, she loved saying “shit ton”. No story from Lisa was complete without myriads of “yada yada’s”, "LOL’s” and “ fast forwards” being stated, yet the stories never really sped up.

If Lisa encountered a nun in public, she was compelled to introduce herself. One would imagine this was initiated by her deep faith. Being a nun was also her go-to Halloween costume to hand out candy, giving her the nickname “Sister Lisa” throughout her neighborhood. For those who knew her, Lisa was a woman of faith dating back to her youth; she was seen praying on the hills of East End Elementary School as a young child. As an adult Lisa would consistently bless her friends and family with holy water. Lisa was never short of an endless supply in her pocket, handbag or backpack. Lisa was a “phenomenal” cook and was aggressively protective of her recipes. Presentation was also important to her, as any meal prepared by her could have been a picture out of a Martha Stewart magazine. Her summertime meals were amped up from all of the fresh herbs that she would personally grow. Kelly would come home to ceramic pots of herbs filling the driveway. Though she didn’t share her recipes she would gift her homegrown herbs to friends, family, and neighbors. She would visit her brother’s family in California a few times a year. Though Lisa was the only aunt of her three godchildren, she was “THE AUNT”: Spoons, Four-Square, any board game the kids would pull out, Lisa was up for a game and sometimes blood was drawn. Blue painters’ tape would be put down to mark the Four-Square area and then hours of daily playing would ensue. After she’d go home the tape would stay out there for a couple of weeks but no one was playing; it wasn’t fun to play without Aunt Lisa. Lisa loved her TV shows: Modern Family, Friends, Arrested Development, Derry Girls, Charmed, Blue Bloods, Xena the Warrior Princess, 30 Rock, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Lost Girl. An avid sports fan and good athlete in her own right, Lisa became a huge soccer fan during the 2022 World Cup. When in Italy last summer, a bucket list trip, she went out of her way to ask any local person if they personally knew Cristiano Ronaldo.

Lisa passed away as she wanted, surrounded by friends and family, peacefully. She was predeceased by her father, Arsete; her dogs Lucky, Maxine, Lucy and Keeva; her cats Rocky, Rocky II, Fallon, Jake and Gizmo. Lisa is survived by Kelly McGhee, her partner of 25 years, her brother Arthur and her mother Agnes; her sister-in-law Stephanie, niece Zoe and nephews Dante and Ian; her lifelong and best friends Amy, Patty, Cathy Barry, Ellen and Jenny; her dogs Bono, Bella, Sasha and Julio; her cats Dublin and Killarney; and of course, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Per the family’s request, in lieu of flowers please send donations to: No More Puppies GA. Click Here to donate online thru the organization's Facebook page.

Family and Friends are invited to visit from 9:30am to 10:45am Monday, March 20, 2023 at Church Of The Incarnation 240 Main Street Mantua, New Jersey 08051. Mass will be held at 11:00 am following the visitation. Final disposition to be private.
