Obituary for Lura L. Bowley (Loring)

Lura L. Bowley age 87, of Williamstown, NJ formerly of Washington Twp. passed away suddenly on Sunday, February 6, 2022. Born in Woodbury, NJ to the late Thomas Loring and Elsie (nee Field), she grew up in Barnsboro on her family's farm. Lura worked many years with Struthers Dunn in the accounting & payroll departments. It was common for her to work multiple jobs while raising two boys on her own. She always managed to take her boys on memorable vacations throughout the years including Expo 67 in Canada (Canada's main celebration during its centennial year).

Lura married Bob Bowley and was a crucial contributor to their family business. She finally retired when she was in her seventies. During these years, Lura travelled to many countries around the world experiencing culture and history further enriching her life.

After Bob's death, she reunited with lifelong friend, Ed Brown, with whom she would spend the last years of her life. Lura enjoyed quiet afternoons tending to their gardens, enjoying nature, and being entertained by their cat's antics. This season of her life brought extreme joy, happiness, and contentment.

Throughout the years, Lura logged several thousand volunteer hours with Kennedy Hospital (now Jefferson Hospital). She was not one to shy away from a challenge or volunteer work. This past November, she worked the polls in the General Election. Lura spent hours ahead of time studying the new electronic system so she could feel completely confident with the enhanced technology.

She was an avid reader immersing herself in American History, war novels, and mysteries. Lura also loved crossword puzzles, grammar, and language in general.

She was a loving grandmother to all her grandchildren, making sure she celebrated their milestones & achievements.

Lura is survived by her loving companion, Ed Brown of Williamstown; her son, Tom Huesser & his wife Jane of Washington Twp.; grandchildren, Lisa, Craig, and Tommy; four great grandchildren; and her sister, Leta Loring. She was predeceased by her husband Robert Bowley, and son, Mark Huesser.
