Obituary for Marilyn K. Sweeten

Marilyn K. Sweeten, age 74 of Clarksboro was carried by the angels into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday, January 25, 2021.
For 47 years, she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Woodbury, where she was a Sunday School teacher, sang in the choir, was the Vacation Bible School Director and served on the Christian Education Committee. She currently attended Zion United Methodist Church. She served on the Child Evangelism Committee of Gloucester County and taught Good News Clubs for several years.
Marilyn was in the first class to graduate from Kingsway Regional High School in 1964. She received a B.S. degree in Elementary Education from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pa. in 1963. She earned a master’s degree from Glassboro State College (now Rowan) in 1976. She taught Beginners (full day Kindergarten) for 37 years in the East Greenwich Township School District. She was Teacher in Charge for many years. She was inducted three times into the Who’s Who of American Teachers after being nominated by three different senior high school honor students. She also received the N.J. Governor’s Recognition Award. When she retired in 2005, a wing of the Jeffrey Clark School in Mickleton was named in her honor.
She enjoyed traveling, reading, doing jigsaw puzzles, cooking new recipes and exploring nature. She was a faithful caregiver to her aunt, uncle, father, brother-in-law, sister and her friend Gene Edmund.
She is predeceased by her wonderful parents Mabel and Earl Sweeten, her precious brother-in-law Orville Carpenter and her dear friend Gene Edmund.
She is survived by her loving sister Barbara S. Carpenter and many supportive friends and several “adopted” children.

Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607 or Bayada at Inspira Health, 603 N. Broad St., Suite 301, Woodbury, NJ 08096. Private service will be held with burial at Eglington Cemetery.
