Obituary for Martha Evelyn Bartleson (Stiner)

Martha E. Bartleson, West Deptford, N.J. Martha E. Bartleson (nee Stiner), age 91, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2021. Born and raised in Berwick, Pennsylvania, Martha and her husband, Bill moved to Westville, New Jersey, to embark on a career in teaching. She received a B.S degree in Elementary Education from Bloomsburg University, Bloomsburg, Pa. in 1952. Martha taught kindergarten and transitional first grade for the West Deptford and Mantua Township school systems for 36 years.

She is survived by her children Steven D., William A. III (Deborah), her loving grandchildren, Kathryn E., Rebecca A., William V., his fiancé, Amber Englebert and her brother Ernest Stiner (Erna), along with her loyal dog, Cotter, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, William A. Bartleson, Jr, and seven brothers and sisters. Martha and her husband, Bill hosted 10 students from the same family from Ecuador throughout the years and maintained close contact with them all. She was a member in good standing of The Chapter of The Eastern Star for 75 years. Martha was an active member of Holy Nativity Lutheran Church in Wenonah.

A memorial service will be held at Holy Nativity Lutheran Church on April 7, 2021. Visitation from 10:00 to 11:30 am with service to follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Martha’s name to Holy Nativity Lutheran Church, 3 Lenape Trail, Wenonah, NJ 08090.
