Obituary for Mary A. Brown (Andrew)
Mary A Brown, age 86, passed away at her home in Mickleton, NJ with family at her side on Wednesday, June 24th 2020. Born and raised in Mantua, NJ. Mary Kathryn was the devoted daughter of the late Louis and Mary Andrew (Wyckoff) and sister of Janette Bennett (Charles). The many friends she grew up with in Mantua remained friends throughout her life, sending cards and talking on the phone. “The Mantua Girls” gathered annually for the past 17 years to celebrate their special bond.
Mary was educated at Pitman High School, Class of 1952 and was also a graduate of Delaware Hospital School of Nursing Class of 1955. Her fellow nursing peers remained in her life, each year gathering for their annual class reunion to celebrate serving others as nurses and reminiscing about their time together.
Mary was a dedicated registered nurse. First working at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Wenonah and later as director at Greenbriar Nursing Home in Woodbury and Deptford NJ. Her final years were spent at Sandpiper Convalescent Center, in Mt Pleasant, S.C. as director. Caring for the elderly with respect and making their final days special was her goal.
A dedicated wife and mother were first and foremost. The beloved wife of Creighton F. Brown for 66 years. Mary and Creig’s lives circled around raising their children and in later years; gardening, walking the beach and running.
Mary was the much loved mother of Jeffrey Brown (Lori), Mariann Welsh (Paul), Susan Brown and Bethann Rogers (James). Cherished mom-mom of Adrienne (Matthew), Daniel (Melissa), Gregory (Annelies), Jacob, and Faye (Jimmy) and great grandmother of six.
She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. The family home was the hub for her children and their friends. Mary cooked many meals and desserts for all who entered. There was always room for one more at the table. Mary loved her family and instilled in her children strong values that have served them well. She will be dearly missed and forever in their hearts.
