Mary Ellen Dowd-Olson, age 53 of Pedricktown, NJ passed away peacefully after a long and courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, December 25, 2019. Born in Philadelphia, she graduated from St. James High School Class of 1984. Mary Ellen earned her Bachelor's Degree at Glassboro State College in 1988, graduated from Gloucester County Police Academy in 1993 and New Castle County Police Academy in 1994. She became a Police Officer for the Delaware River and Bay Authority. Most of all she loved taking care of her family and her feisty pet Kelly. Mary Ellen will be missed by many and never forgotten.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph T. Olson; son, Joseph E. Olson; parents, Michael J. Dowd Sr. and Mary Ellen (Mitchell) of Mantua; brother, Michael J. Dowd Jr. and his wife Hope Ann of Williamstown; in laws, Evor and Irene Olson of Wilmington, DE; brothers in law, Ted Olson and Jack Anderson of Millsboro, DE; sister in law, Patricia Sarver of Wilmington, DE; and many nieces and nephews.

Family and Friends may visit from 6 PM to 8 PM on Monday, December 30th at Smith Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Mantua and from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM on Tuesday, December 31st at Church of the Incarnation, 240 Main Street, Mantua, NJ where Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM. Burial will follow at New St. Mary's Cemetery in Bellmawr, NJ 08031.
