Obituary for Mickey G. Thompson Sr.

Mickey G. Thompson Sr.
Mickey G. Thompson, Sr., aged 65, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2018 at his home in Wenonah, NJ, surrounded by loved ones.

Beloved husband of Nancy Thompson (Lutner). Devoted father of Mark Thompson, Matthew Thompson, and Mickey Thompson, Jr. Devoted grandfather of Mark, Jr., Addison, and Molly. Dear brother to Penny Vasta, Donna Thompson, Ginger Thompson, and Mike Thompson. Best friend to Bob Raynore and his wife Shirleen. Mickey was predeceased by his parents Norman Thompson and Billie Jo Powers, his beloved stepmother, Ruth Thompson, and his brother Patrick Thompson.

Mickey graduated from Clearview High School in 1972, and thereafter began a career as a draftsman. He later transitioned to a career in retail, working as a retail manager for many years before retiring from Home Depot.

Mickey was known for his generous spirit, quick wit, and charismatic nature. He was always willing to sacrifice his time for anyone in need. As a talented “Mr. Fix-it,” he was fearless to take on any project, from household repairs to computer troubleshooting. He possessed a green thumb, and was very proud of his summer garden. He would anxiously await the arrival of his summer crops, and took great pride in delivering the produce to family, friends and neighbors alike. He was also a lifelong fishing enthusiast, returning to his favorite spot in Stone Harbor, NJ, to enjoy a day of fishing with his son Mark, and best friend Bob Raynore.

Family and friends are invited to visit from 9:30 am to 11:00 am on Monday, January 7th at Smith Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Mantua, NJ 08051. Memorial service will be held at 11 am. Memories and condolences can be shared at www.smithfhmantua.com .
