Obituary for Peter John DelVecchia

Peter John DelVecchia age 86, of West Deptford passed away Friday, October 9, 2020. Born to the late Vincent J. DelVecchia and Aida Schick DelVecchia in Stamford, Connecticut. Peter earned his Masters from NYU, and worked for NCR - National Cash Register until his retirement. He spent his formative years into late adulthood in Brooklyn, NY marrying his wife Maureen Elizbeth Harrington, where they raised five children in the parish of St. Thomas Aquinas, Brooklyn. In 2014 he moved to NJ with his daughter Maureen and her family.

Peter was a loving and dedicated son, father, and grandfather. His main interest and hobby truly was the well being of his family. If ever there was a family member in need, he was the first to respond with his time, effort, and attention. Outside of his family, he did make time to be an avid Mets fan, and enjoyed carpentry, accounting, gardening, walking for both exercise and enjoyment. He liked to go for long car rides in order to fully explore and appreciate nature and architecture. Laughter and humor were the cornerstones of his personality and this gift lasted him until he passed. He will be incredibly missed.

He is predeceased by his loving wife of 47 years, Maureen; survived by his children, Rita Tattos (predeceased by her husband, George), Peter John DelVecchia, Jr. (predeceased by his wife, Gay), Michael Della Vecchia and his wife Lisa, Stephen DelVecchia and his wife Jennifer and Maureen Brous and her husband Nathaniel; grandchildren, Peter, Christian and Kristiana Tattos, Amanda, Gayle and Abezu DelVecchia, Gioia, Michael and Milo Della Vecchia, Ryan and Alicia DelVecchia and Abigail Brous; step grandchildren, James, David and Ben Collins; and his unofficial surviving child: his fiercely loyal dog, Brooklyn, for whom he stated was his best friend and heir apparent.

Family and Friends are invited to visit from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Monday, October 19th and from 8:30 am to 9:30 am Tuesday, October 20th, at Smith Funeral Home 47 Main Street Mantua, NJ 08051.
