Obituary for Raymond Platt

Raymond Platt, age 96, formerly of Barnsboro passed away on Wednesday March 7,2018. Raised on a
farm in Swedesboro during the Depression, Ray came to faith at the Thorofare Methodist Church in 1938. In 1942 he joined the Marines and served in the Marshall Islands, Saipan, and Iwo Jima. He was employed with DuPont as a Chemical Operator, and loved to garden, experimenting with a wide variety of fruits and vegetables. He was a hardworking, faithful man who was dedicated to providing for his family. In his later years he moved to UMC of Pitman and enjoyed interacting with the staff and residents. Raymond was predeceased by his wife Rachael to whom he had been married for over 70 years. He was the loving father of David (Judy) and Dennis (Tili) Platt; grandfather to Joanna, Aaron (Jamie). Dan, Thomas, Peter (Sunny) and Yvette (David Seligman); and great grandfather to Miriam, Lily and Sydney. Ray is also survived by his brother Claude Platt and his sister Marie Dietrich. Family and Friends are invited to a Memorial Service on Friday, March 16th at 10 am, at the United Methodist Communities at Pitman Chapel 535 N. Oak Avenue. Pitman, NJ 08071. A graveside service with Military Honors will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, Hurfville.
