Obituary for Richard Charles Remsing Sr.

Richard Charles Remsing Sr. age 82, of "Sewell" Mantua Township passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at home. Born in Philadelphia to the late Francis Remsing and Margaret Higson, he attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and Saint Michael's Catholic School in Philadelphia, PA. Rich also served as an altar boy at St Michaels Catholic Church. He worked for Cold Iron Enterprises and retired from J.R. Drywall. Rich loved fishing, crabbing, grilling, and family barbeques. He listened to KYW and the music of Elvis (I Did It My Way was his favorite). Rich’s favorite television shows were The Three Stooges, Andy Griffith, Gunsmoke, Two and a Half Men and Mike & Molly. He was an avid Philadelphia Phillies & Eagles Fan. Rich also had five boats, JAWS I through V.

Husband of the late Jo-Ann L. Remsing (nee Lee), he is survived by his son Richard Remsing Jr. (Patty), three daughters, Jo-Ann Zeilman, Linda Dorr, and Kathryn DePalma (Marc), grandchildren Ricky III, Jimmy, Tiffany, Jac-Lyn, Annie, Jessica, Jayme, Hanna, Stefanie, Chuckie, Justin, Christy and Madyson, eight great grandchildren, Savannah, Jayden, Scarlett, Paisley, Lucy, Mikey, Luke and Julie, his brother Frank Remsing, two sisters Barbara May and Bertha Roach. He was predeceased by his son-in-law Francis Zeilman, III, brother Frederick Remsing, three sisters Margie Tracey, Betty May, Franny Spence, brother-in-law Kenny Meussner, and sister-in-law Daisy Meussner.

Family and Friends may visit from 6 pm to 8 pm on Wednesday, March 8th, at Smith Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Mantua, NJ and from 9:30 am to 10:45 am on Thursday, March 9th at Church Of The Incarnation, 240 Main Street Mantua, NJ where a funeral Mass will be held at 11 am. Burial will follow in Eglington Cemetery in Clarksboro, NJ.
